FirstLook

One of the few complaints that I have about the new tool Eduard 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G and F kits is that the pitot tube is moulded to the kit's wing tip.

This means that the delicate plastic part is prone to damage during assembly and painting. More often than not, I accidentally break them off my models and replace them with telescoping tube and wire, or with an industrial light filament.

Eduard seems to have recognised this hazard to the exposed kit part and has released a set of three specific Bf 109 F and G pitot tubes in their BRASSIN range.

Although the packaging states that these are for the Eduard kit, they'll work with pretty much any 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 F, G or K kit, and probably other German types too.

They don't come much easier than this - simply snap off the pitot tube from the resin casting strip, drill a small hole in the leading edge of the kit wing tip and you have a new pitot tube in place. Take my advice though and make sure this is the last thing you do before the model is complete!

Recommended.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
