Valom 1:72 scale Handley Page Harrow, Kit No. 12057
I have built Valoms respectable Handley Page Harrow kit twice. This is my second build, showing this characterful aircraft in the colours of 214. Squadron as it was flown in from RAF Feltwell during the last two years of peace.
The Harrow has been introduced into service with January 1937, representing a major step to a more modern and up to date bomber fleet. Even so, the type´s glory days should be short; already by early 1939 the Harrow had been rated as not being fit for bomber missions anymore.
However there was a second life for this outdated warrior as a transport. In this duty it served so well that it was in service until the war was over. Even over the beaches of the Normandy the Harrow, being properly marked with invasion strips, flew transport and evacuation missions.
From the hundred Harrows being build, some were flown by the by the Fleet Air Arm under the name of “Sparrow”.
Valom´s multimedia package provides a trouble free, even comfortable and rather fast building experience. Well, as with the first build, assembling the undercarriage remains the most challenging part within this build…
This time the quality of the decals has been beyond reproach.
