I’m probably not the first person to open up a kit and rustle through all of the plastic and extras only to find the either decals poorly printed, out of register or yellowed and brittle. Fantasy Printshop have come to the rescue with their extensive range of US Army Air Corp and post war US Air Force Insignia.
Supplied in a ziplock bag with no instructions (for obvious reasons), the 1/72 and 1/48th options for both the USAAC and USAF post war versions contain 40 decals with 14”, 15” 20”, 25”, 30”, 35”, 40”, 43”, 50” and 60” sizes supplied.
The 1/32nd scale sheet contains 58 decals with the same size supplied as per the 1/72nd and 1/48th sheets.
The decals are very well printed with barely a hint of carrier film visible and to my eye the look very thin. They’re of a matt finish with vibrant colours and no apparent opacity problems. They are all printed in perfect register.
The USAAC and USAF emblem follow a specific set of geometric rules. An excellent 2012 discussion about the dimensions of the USAF insignia can be found here on the Hyperscale forums. I’ve had a quick measure with a steel rule and the Mk.1 eyeball and the dimensions and ratios look good in all scales.
If you’re looking to replace damaged or out of register or poor quality decals these line of USAF and USAAC insignia will suite the job perfectly in all major scales.
