Review Type:

First Look.

Advantages:

High quality production, good clear instructions.

Disadvantages:

None noted.

Conclusions:

The PE set offers a simple but very effective improvement on what the kit has to offer, whilst the mask simply makes life easier and finishing that bit quicker. The production quality is excellent, and the PE set’s instructions very clear and comprehensive. I highly recommend both.

Resin Improvement has quite an extensive range of detail and conversion parts in resin and both coloured and plain PE; they also offer and pre-cut paint masks. Their PE products are manufactured by Eduard, so the quality is automatically good, and I assume Eduard is behind the paint masks and resin as well, as their quality is certainly excellent as well.

Both items reviewed here are intended for the Hasegawa Grumman X-29, which having built, I can report goes together nicely. Cockpit detail is a bit spartan however; even though an open canopy option with the canopy’s elaborate opening mechanism is included.

The PE set comes in a resealable cellophane bag with card stiffener and well-drawn diagrammatic instructions, whilst the mask is supplied in a resealable plastic bag with card header. There are no instructions with the mask, but then none are really needed.

The PE set is focussed on the cockpit, but also includes some blade antennae and pitot. It will really enhance what the kit has to offer. The mask covers the canopy and wheels.
