Eduard's BRASSIN 1/72 Bullpup B is available online from Squadron.com
Both of the sets reviewed here are intended for the new tool Airfix Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I, which I took a “first look” at here on HyperScale in April this year.
For many Eduard is a brand name synonymous with superb quality, and this is certainly the case with the review items, from their packaging and instructions, to the actual components. Each PE fret comes packed with a large card stiffener sealed in cellophane, along with printed instructions. The instructions for each item are also downloadable in as PDF’s from Eduard’s website. To view these please click here for interior, and here for the flaps.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and this adage certainly applies to this “first look”. The Eduard’s CAD illustrations, my images of the actual frets, and the downloadable instructions should provide readers with almost all they need to about the contents and their intended placement.
It seems fair, and perhaps obvious, to add that the flap parts will need very careful removal from the fret, and even more careful assembly. The interior set also has some minute parts; that are probably close to the limit of what most modellers can work with. However, there can be little doubt that the results should be very good. Let us hope that an aftermarket vac-form cockpit canopy and turret set is released to exploit the detail to its fullest.
Eduard also offers some other accessory sets for the new Airfix Defiant, these being:
-
73525. This consists of SS525 reviewed here along with a plain PE fret mainly consisting of replacement undercarriage doors and other related details.
-
73031 Super Fabric Seatbelts. For those who only want to dress up the kit seats.
-
CX414 Pre-cut Paint-Mask.
-
BIG7299 BID ED. It contains 72600 landing flaps, 73525 interior, and CX414 paint mask. Surprisingly, it does not include the undercarriage details associated with 73525.
Both of these detail sets are of excellent quality and stand to enhance the new-tool Airfix Defiant kit. I highly recommended both.
Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
