Review Type: |
First Look. |
Advantages: |
Superb quality overall. |
Disadvantages: |
None noted. |
Conclusions: |
The combination of excellent packaging, beautiful detail rendition, superb production quality, and paint masks where applicable, make Eduard’s Brassin detail sets hard to beat.
Similar accolades apply to Tamiya’s recent F-16CJ Block 50 kit, yet the Brassin sets reviewed here will dramatically enhance even this fine example of the kit-maker’s art.
I highly recommended all three sets. |

Brett Green reviewed the new Tamiya F-16CJ Block 50 kit here in March 2014. He concluded:
“Tamiya's 1:72 F-16CJ Block 50 Fighting Falcon is an excellent kit, with the best surface detail that I have seen on a kit of this scale. The model should be a pleasure to build thanks to the thoughtful planning of Tamiya's designers too.
Even if you are not a big fan of modern jets, you would be doing yourself a favour by sampling the sheer excellence and of Tamiya's new 1:72 scale F-16CJ Block 50 Fighting Falcon.”
I would have to agree with him, but even so, there always some detail areas where resin and photo etch (PE) will surpass what even the best of injected kit manufacturers can manage. This is the case with the three detail sets reviewed here, where comparison to the kit parts in Brett’s review will reveal just how Eduard’s Brassin sets can improve an already superb kit.
For me, Eduard is a brand name that is synonymous with superb quality, and this is certainly the case with these items, from packaging, instructions, to the actual components. Each set comes packed in a clear blister pack with foam cushioning for the resin parts. Enclosed within are clear diagrammatic instructions with paint call-outs cross-referenced to Gunze’s Aqueous and Mr. Color paint ranges.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and so it is the case here. The following CAD images by Eduard clearly show the nature of the components offered with each set. Readers can also click on the headings to open a copy of the instructions as a PDF.
I have also included my own photographic images of the actual items.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
