Review Type: |
First Look. |
Advantages: |
Superb quality overall. |
Disadvantages: |
None noted. |
Conclusions: |
The combination of excellent packaging, beautiful detail rendition, superb production quality, and paint masks where applicable, make Eduard’s Brassin detail sets hard to beat. The bombs reviewed here are a definite step up from kit-supplied items and will enhance any model suitable to carry them. I highly recommended both sets. |

Eduard's 1/48 scale MiG-21R Interior is available online from Squadron.com
Bombs, when we are lucky enough to have them supplied with a kit, are often quite lacking in finesse and detail when compared to photos. Yet a realistically finished payload can really be the cherry on the top (or perhaps underneath!) of a completed model. The two bomb sets reviewed here should certainly fit the bill, especially for models of WW2 and Korean War allied fighter-bombers.
For me, Eduard is a brand name that is synonymous with superb quality, and this is certainly the case with these items, from packaging, instructions, to the actual components. Each set comes packed in a clear blister pack with foam cushioning for the resin parts, and a protected area for the PE fret. The decal sheet is enclosed within clear diagrammatic instructions.
Paint call-outs are cross-referenced to Gunze’s Aqueous and Mr. Color paint ranges.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and so it is the case here. The following CAD images by Eduard clearly show the nature of the components offered with each set. Readers can also click on the headings to open a copy of the instructions as a PDF.
I have also included my own photo and scan images of the component items.
As can be seen from the images, each set contains six bombs with the casing and fins as separate parts made from perfectly cast resin. The identical PE fret supplied with each provides tiny tail and nose fuses.
Everything is capped off by a decal sheet with bring markings and stencilling. The result should be some wonderful looking bombs.
Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
