F-4C Phantom II |
Tamiya's 1/32 scale F-4C Phantom II is available online from Squadron.com
This is my second model in big scale: Tamiya’s F-4 C/D Phantom II. It was made OOB.
Model is perfectly fitted, I haven’t got any issues or problems. The only think that need some extra attention is the geometry of wings and tail fins to align them as they are in real.
Display base was made pretty much the same way as in case of F-15E, the only exception was to put some wood glue mixed with black paint and gloss varnish to simulate tar on plates joints.
Because I had to add something else on display so I made some jersey barriers from balsa wood.
Finishing, Painting and Markings |
I decided to try a tri color SEA camouflage scheme. I believe it fits this plane perfectly and I loved it from the first look. It was a little bit challenging and I had to plan my work to paint the model correctly.
I started with grey primer and black preshading. Firstly I painted underneath with light grey and then I moved to top with tan color. After spraying it came out that it is a little bit too light, but I decided to leave it like this. Next color was light green and last one was dark green. At the end I corrected sharp edge of colors and I darkened tan color a little bit.
All paints I used were Tamiya acrylics except metalizers, those were from Gunze.
This a perfect model, a must have for every fan of Cold Era planes.
