Zotz decals have again delivered a remarkable selection of the some of the more colourful TA-4’s that served within the US Navy. As many of the subjects on this sheet were allocated to the commanding officer of the respective squadrons, the markings are colourful and very attractive.
Many of the jets have large swathes of colour emblazoned across the tail, fuselage, and wings. One jet even has a great looking shark mouth option. Several aircraft have options for two time periods when different commanding officers were using the aircraft. This expands the number of marking options to build. Additionally, a full set of stencils is provided albeit for a single airframe.
Well researched notes are provided for each of the options including a brief service life of each jet and its final fate. Of interest several of the jets were lost in accidents and others were sent to AMARC for disposal.
The aircraft provided are:
-
TA-4F BuNo 153502 VA-45, 1974
-
TA4J BuNo 155097 VA-24, 1975
-
TA-4F BuNo 153661 VC-1, December 1975
-
TA-4J BuNo 158512 VT-24, May 1975 and November 1976
-
TA-4J BuNo 153674 VX-4, 1975
-
TA-4F BuNo 154617 VF-126 (COMFITAEWWINGPAC), 1974
If you’re fortunate enough to have the Hasegawa 1/32 kit in your collection and cannot recommend these decals enough. They’re big, bright bold and colourful and will look great on a large scale model. On the other hand if you don’t have the kit, you might have to have a rummage around at the local swap and sells or try your luck on ebay as they don’t come around too often. I’d highly recommended these decals to those modelers who like their big scale US navy jets bright and colourful
Thanks to Eli from Zotz for the sample
