Xtradecal has recently released a series of 1/72 scale decals commemorating the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

The sheet under review tonight is "70th Anniversary D-Day Pt. 4 - Luftflotte 3".

Eight Luftwaffe fighters and bombers are covered in this impressive release.

Details are as follows:

1. Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-6 W.Nr 530120 Black <-+- Oberleutnant Pips Priller CO JG26 Lille;

2. Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 W.Nr 3317 Black <<-+- Major Kurt Buhligen CO JG 2 Creil;

3. Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr 166224 White 10 2.JG.3;

4. Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 U-2 W.Nr 412951 White 16 yellow under nose and red tail band Lt Horst Prenzel Staffelcapitan 1.JG.301;

5. Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 Black Chevron and Bars possibly flown by II Gruppen Adjutant Oberleutnant Max Bruno Fischer of Stab II./JG3;

6. Junkers Ju 188 A JE+HK 2/KG.6 Melsbroek, Belgium;

7. Junkers Ju 88 A-4 3E+S 8./KG.6 Melum-Villaroche;

8. Heinkel He 111 H-22 with Fiesler Fi 103/V1 5K+GA Stab/KG.6 Beauvais.

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across one double-sided A4 and a double sided A5 sheet. Upper, lower and both side views are provided for all aircraft.

Colour notes are also supplied, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

I really like these decal collections with multiple types covered on the one sheet. I think that it is quite likely that you will want to use several markings from this one sheet on different aircraft types.

Xtradecals' new decal sheets will be a great way to commemorate D-Day in 1/72 scale.
