Delta One is a recently established company that have concentrated on producing larger scale decals in the 1/32 arena. The two sheets that we look at here are in the 1/72 range and cover generic and generic rounded BORT numbers for modern Russian transport and bomber aircraft.
Each set provides numerals in red, blue and yellow. The blue and yellow numerals are outlined in black and the red numerals are outlined in white. Two different font types are supplied on each sheet.
Generic Bort Numbers
Russian stars are also provided on the each sheet. The generic sheet provides the traditional style of red star with a red centre, white halo and then a narrow red edge. The generic rounded sheet provides the more contemporary design with a blue edge around the red centre, a void (which can be filled with the supplied white backing stars) and the red outline. It’s in this part of the decal sheet that I can find the only problem. As one moves across the sheet from left to right, the registration of the stars for the contemporary version becomes worse. This issue is not present on the older style of stars.
Generic Rounded Bort Numbers
This is the only problem that I can find on an otherwise faultless production. Colour density for the numerals is excellent and the carrier film is barely visible. I’m not even sure if you need to use setting agent with these as they look that good.
Delta One suggests that these decals are suitable for use on larger Russian transport aircraft.
At the time of writing, Delta One’s website wasn’t operating however they can be contacted by their email address at delta1decal@gmail.com.
These are two handy decal sheets if you’re looking to model a specific aircraft number that perhaps isn’t supplied as a kit option. I recommend both of these decal sheets with the above mentioned caveat.
Thanks to Delta One for the sample
