Advantages:

A variety of RBF tags that will last you quite while. The reflective silver appears to be reflective!

If you’re looking to add some visual interest then these RBF flags should do the trick. Great to see that there’s a selection of different types rather than a single design. Highly Recommended.

Astra Decals RBF decal sheet contains approximately 100 decals of 19 varying types. From the traditional red flag with white text through to the orange flag with reflective stripes and most combinations in between this sheet is unique (to me at least) as I’ve not seen multiple styles done on a sheet before. The instruction sheet provides a list of the various types and their suggested uses.

The decals are wafer thin and have minimal carrier film which should be easily removed with your favourite scalpel blade. The instructions also provide a unique solution I’ve not seen previously mentioned before to give the banner some shape. It suggests that a small section of the bag that the decal sheet comes in can be used to wrap the decal around. Once the decal has dried and has been sealed and trimmed, the decal can then be bent and twisted to the desired shape with the plastic bag used as the ‘former’. Top idea that!

 

 

The styles provided are

First Style: red cotton banners with white text screen printed on one or both sides

  • 35cm / 13 ¾ inch long (for armament, launchers,…)

  • 45 cm / 17 ¾ inch long

  • 61cm / 24 inch long (most common length)

  • 75cm / 30 inch long

  • 91.5cm / 36 inch long

  • 122cm / 48 inch long (ejection seats)

Second Style: orange nylon banners with white or black text printed on both sides

  • 61 cm / 24 inch long (most common length)

  • 75cm / 30 inch long

Third Style: orange nylon banners with silver reflective stripes on both sides

  • 61 cm / 24 inch long

 

 

 

Conclusion

 

DACO is to be congratulated for providing a handy set of decals to give visual interest to our models. The suggested tip to give them shape and life is also a neat idea.

If you’re looking to add some visual interest to your modern aircraft then I suggest a set of these.

The set is also available in 1/72 scale.
