This photo etched set is specifically designed for the 1/72 Airfix Vampire T.11 kit. A healthy dose of photo etch is supplied and most parts of the Airfix kit will get a new(er?) lease of life.
The etch set has you replace the entire instrument panel with a sandwich instrument panel and printed dial arrangement. New rudder pedals, gunsight, trim wheel, and ancillary instrument boxes complete the panel. The kit seats are also replaced with the folded etch variety as are the seat harnesses. The overhead centre beam for the canopy is also provided as well as the cockpit locking handle and the rearview mirror. The kit will certainly benefit in this area as posing the kit cockpit open will reveal a canopy frame void of any framing or structure.
Externally the kit will benefit from some photo etch additions in some key locations that will add visual interest and detail to the model. These items are primarily hinges, inspection and fuel panels and radio antennae.
For those looking to add additional detail to the Airfix Vampire, this set provides a useful amount of etch without being too complicated. If you like to work with etch and prefer to add detail using this media I recommend it for you.
