Review Type: |
First Look. |
Advantages: |
Good scale finesse and good quality. |
Disadvantages: |
No colour call-outs provided. |
Conclusions: |
These are all good detail and accessory sets that will enhance their intended kits. Their lack of colour call-outs is easy to overcome. Personally, I do not think that the P-40E set adds that much interest, but others will disagree with me I am sure. I am happy to recommend all of the sets reviewed here. |

Each set comes in a cellophane bag stapled to a card header, and all include instructions. The cockpit sets have a transparency for their PE instrument panels. The instructions are easy to follow, and the PE frets are of good quality. The lack of colour call outs for the cockpits is a minor inconvenience, but is easy to overcome.
Most of the review’s images are from Brengun’s website. These illustrate the PE parts in situ on their intended kit. This is more useful than an image of a PE fret alone. I have combined these with scans of their respective instructions. The general details of what each set provides are as follows:
-
BRL72064 – Bf 108 Taifun (for the Fly kit): This set improves the kit’s cockpit with seat belts, instrument panel, rudder panels, and a rear vision mirror. It also has two external grab handles, brake-lines, and oleo torque-links.
-
BRL72065 – P-40E (for the AZ Models kit): This provides the internal structure for the ammunition cans and runs within each wing.
-
BRL72066 – AH-1G (for the AZ Models kit): Provides seat belts and instrument panels, gunner’s control and sight; plus a variety of external details as illustrated in the accompanying images, covering both rotors, rocket pods, fuselage, and landing skids. There is a large optional panel on the port side below the pilot’s canopy, but I have no idea what it is (I first thought additional armour, but it is only for one side).
These are all good detail and accessory sets that will enhance their intended kits. Their lack of colour call-outs is easy to overcome. Personally, I do not think that the P-40E set adds that much interest, but others will disagree with me I am sure. I am happy to recommend all of the sets reviewed here.
