BarracudaCast is the resin accessory arm of Roy Sutherland's Barracuda Studios enterprise.

After releasing two decal sheets for the new 1/32 scale Revell Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 Erla kit, Roy has now turned his attention to correcting some of that kit's problems with drop-fit resin replacements:

BR32123 - Bf 109 G-10 and K-4 Prop and Spinner

The shape of the Revell spinner is actually not too bad, but the part is split midway resulting in a difficult join to hide. The kit propeller blades are poorly shaped.

BarracudaCast's Prop and Spinner set solves both of these problems. The propeller blades are accurately shaped and free from distortion; while the one-piece solid spinner is crisply detailed. Panel line and rivet detail is nicely done, and the elusive shape of the tapered prop blade openings at the base of the spinner is captured perfectly.

This accessory will be suitable for Revell's new kit or any of Hasegawa's G-10 and K-4 offerings.

BR32156 - Bf 109 G-10 Intake and Exhaust Set

This simple but effective upgrade offers:

  • Exhaust stacks, cast as one strip per side and with hollow ends to each of the stacks.

  • A replacement supercharger intake, correct in size and shape and cast as one piece.

  • Six separate hollow scoops to replace the solid parts moulded to the nose of the Revell kit.

All of these parts will deliver a noticeable enhancement to Revell's 1/32 scale Bf 109 G-10 Erla.

BR32160 - Bf 109 G-10 and K-4 Oil Cooler Fairing

Funny thing - I always thought that the oil cooler housing on Erla-built Bf 109 G-10s was shallower and wider than the standard G-10 unit. I was therefore surprised when BarracudaCast's resin part was marked as suitable for G-10 and K-4 as well as the Erla-built G-10.

I checked a few photos and, indeed, it would seem that the deep Fo 987 oil cooler housing was fitted to Erla-built G-10s. It's never too late to learn!

So, getitng back to the point, BarracudaCast has released an accurate oil cooler housing to replace the slab-sided part included with the kit. This may be adapted for the Hasegawa G-10 and K-4 kits too.

BR32169 - Bf 109 G Upper Wings with Small Wheel Bulges

Many, and possibly most, Erla-built Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10s were fitted with the G-6-style narrow main wheels and small upper wing bulges. Unfortunately, Revell has only provided the large G-10/K-4 bulges in their Erla kit.

When I built my Erla G-10 I had to sacrifice an unbuilt Revell 1/32 scale Bf 109 G-6 kit to source the small wheel bulges.

Now, BarracudaCast has addressed this shortcoming with their upper wing innder section with small wheel bulges. This will be a simple drop-fit replacement for the large wheel bulge parts in the Revell kit.

Casting and detail is up to BarracudaCast's usual superlative standards on all my samples, and cleanup will be fast and easy..

These are all simple yet highly desirable finishing touches for your Revell 1/32 scale Bf 109 G-10 projects, and will also be useful for other brands!

All Highly Recommended.
