Revell's 1/32 Spitfire Mk.IIa is available online from Squadron for just $31.84!
Here's my latest completion, and probably my last for 2014.
This is Revell's 1/32 scale Spitfire Mk.IIa backdated to a Mk.I. This is a very simple conversion, mainly achieved by omitting a couple of bumps on the nose.
I used a stack of aftermarket on this one including Barracuda Studios corrected ailerons, oil cooler and radiator, resin cockpit parts, seat and pilot's armour, cockpit decals and wheels; Eduard photo-etch and fabric Sutton harness; SAC white metal landing gear legs and EagleCals decals.
I wound up using the de Havilland spinner cap from the older Hasegawa kit. This fitted pretty well with the kit backplate and prop blades.
I did not have high expectations for this kit, but I actually like it a lot.
You can spend a ton of time and money to correct it, or you can spend pocket money and finish it in all its imperfect (but certainly not unattractive) glory. The choice is entirely yours!
This model will be written up in detail in Issue 47 of Military Illustrated Modeller magazine.
Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers. For details visit www.revell.de/en, @RevellGermany or facebook.com/Revell
