Junkers Ju 87 has been one of the epitomes of Hitlers Luftwaffe, the Blitzkrieg and the fast victories in the first two years of the war.
In the last two years of the great slaughter everything had changed: the war was obviously lost, Hitlers armies retreating and the formerly mighty Luftwaffe a shadow of her´s former self.
The outfit and the operating conditions of the Ju 87 are a good evidence to that. First it´s tell taling, that such an outdated construction as the Ju 87 was still in service. The G-version had lost the bomb racks, airbrakes and, of course, the characteristic Jericho sirens of the Stuka.
Fitting to more defensive operations two 37mm Flakkanonen were slung under her wings. These weapons had been found to be very effecive tank killers, firing a 632g shell which would disable or destroy a tank with one hit.
The magazine did hold twelf of these projectiles, making the Ju 87G a very potent tank-hunter.
Air superiority given, this weapon could bring hell to allied tankers, especially on the Eastern front this proved to be true.
My version shows a Ju 87G-2, W.Nr. 494200, of Luftflotte 4. This plane was extensively photographed in Pilsen in 1945. A decal sheet from EageCal made possible to build this special Ju 87, the night exhaust are from Quickboost.
