To be honest: I did not know much about the existence of this rather eccentric Cold War jet until I saw the announcement of the Kitty Hawk kit. When I learned about the general configuration and the strange positioning of the main rocket-armament, my decision was quickly made that I had to build the F-94C Star Fire.
I was eager to get my hands on my first KH kit- and what I did find was quite pleasing: Plenty of etched metal and plastic parts that made me speechless when I saw how thin they were made.
All went together without any irritation, but details in the cockpit and the wheel wells seemed to me a little sparse. So I did a little extra work with some wire and fitting spare parts.
Considering the paint schemes provided I was further pleased by the decals quality. There was no problem to get them nuzzle on the curved fuselage or on the smaller diameter of the wingtip tanks.
After such good news I have to say, that I heard of serious problems assembling this kit. Maybe Kitty Hawk has done some improvements because mine was literally a trouble free build.
I did mention the F-94C eccentric weapons arrangement: if you don´t know already and would like to see what I did mean have a look on this:
