We all have some form of home made glue applicator for CA glue or other hobby adhesives. A sewing needle in an old brush handle, a sharpened toothpick, some stretched sprue. All of these are now redundant thanks to the inventive mind of aftermarket producer Radu Brinzan.
Radu’s RB Productions is now offering a PE fret containing six stainless steel precision glue applicator tips. The ultra-fine U-shaped tips allow the modeller to apply small drops of glue at a precise location. The tip shapes can also be bent inwards a little for use with ultra-thin glues.
At a price of under five Euros (plus post and packing) for a pack of six, this is a bargain and within moments of using one of these applicators, all of this reviewer’s home made applicators were retired to the waste basket. The applicator tips allow you to collect and place precise amounts of glue in a specific area. No more smothering the part with unnecessary CA glue!
The glue tip applicators work on CA glue, PVA, and standard styrene glues and the six pack fret, given they are re-usable, is probably a lifetime supply.
A special advantage is that the applicators can be easily installed in a hobby knife handle or a pin vise.
Any dried glue is easily removed from the tips with a scalpel blade, solvents or even burnt off without damaging the metal tip. The versatility of the glue tips and the fact they be used with virtually any adhesive, only enhances their appeal.
This is a really nifty and useful idea providing an invaluable new tool for the work bench.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to RB Productions for the sample.
