When reviewing this book I could not help but remember back to a time when such a publication was merely pipe dream. We modelers have never had it so good. This new publication from Kagero is the second part of a series dealing with the German Fw 190s over Europe during the Second World War.

Eight machines are covered in a wide variety of schemes with the appropriate decals for each. Three scales are covered from 72nd to 48th and lastly 32nd. The decals are printed by Cartograf and display excellent colour density and as one would expect from this firm are remarkably thin.  The machines covered are:

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-2 “Chevron L” France 1942

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-2 “Blue 2” France 1942

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-4 Flown by Wutz Galland France 1943

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-7”Yellow 5” Germany 1943

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-8/R6 “Black 8” Germany 1945

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-8/R2 “Red 10” Germany 1945

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-8 “White 20” Norway 1945

• Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-8/R11 “White 2” Austria 1945

The Topcolor range of books doesnt’t pretend to be anything more than very well illustrated decal sheets with accompanying profiles and a brief history on the pilot and machine itself. 

I must say I do like the approach, as it motivates one to build a model as well as the colour profiles. I would have liked a small photo of the real aircraft to be included with in the profile themselves but. that is  only a minor niggle.

I did however pick up a few facts from these profiles that I didn’t know. For instance I had no idea that Adolf Galland’s younger brother Wutz was an ace as well and one of most successful Spitfire killers before his ultimate demise in 1943.

I would recommend this publication to anyone with an interest in World War Two German Aviation during the Second World War. The presentation and quality of the decals are really world class and well worth the purchase price.
