Eduard's 1/48 scale P-39 Airacobra Dual Combo is available onine from Squadron

Here is the second of my 1/48 scale Eduard "Dual Combo" P-39/400 Airacobras by Eduard.

This one is Bell P-39Q Airacobra, 71st TRS, 82nd TRG/ William A. Shomo

The P-39Q was not only the last version to be built but with over 4500 delivered aircraft also the most numerous one.

Being armed with two 12,7mm gun pods instead of the four 7,62mm wing mounted guns of the former versions these machines were born ground attack aircraft and have been used in this role both from the Soviets as from the USAAF in the Pacific.

“Snooks II” has been flown by the 71st TRS, 82nd TRG from Dobodura and Finschhafen/ Newgiunea in 1944. The pilot, William A. Shomo, named and numbered all his mounts after the nickname of his wife. In early 1945 he gained a reputation by managing to shoot down seven Japanese aircraft in one mission. This way he became one of the 68 known US “aces in a day”.

As with my first P-39 from Eduard building this kit was quite a pleasure. Those well equipped Profipack kits really make you miss all those precut-masks and etched parts benefactions in other kits…
