Meng Model's 1/32 scale
Me 163B Komet

by Brett Green

Messerschmitt Me 163B Komet

True Details' 1/48 scale F4U-4 Cowl and Propeler Correction is available online from Squadron

Description

I have just completed Meng's 1/32 scale lovely new Messerschmitt Me 163 B. I reviewed this kit last month in detail. You can find the review by following this link. In my opinion, this is the best Messerschmitt Me 163 kit in any scale.

Meng's 1/32 scale Komet is a great kit with excellent detail and precise fit. It won't fall together by itself, but if you carefully follow the instructions and test fit regularly, you will be rewarded with a very impressive result.

The model was built almost straight from the box, with the only additions being Barracuda Studios' excellent resin wheels, Fine Molds plastic harness straps (jury is still out on these… I think I prefer the HGW fabric harnesses) and airscale instrument dial decals.

Paints are the new enamel colours from Humbrol - first time I have used Humbrol paints since I was about 14 years old! Decals were cobbled together from a number of sources to depict an aircraft in a Tom Tullis profile.

I’ll be writing this up in more detail for a 14-page Feature Article in Issue 33 of Military Illustrated Modeller magazine.

Hope you'll like it!

Thanks to Meng Model for the sample.
