FirstLook

While I have not heard of LimaOscar Decals before, they are a Polish company that specialise in Polish Aviation subjects.  All of the decals are printed by Techmod and are all in register; appear nice and thin with minimal carrier film. All the colours are vibrant and for the airliner types, the cabin windows are duplicated in black and silver so you, the modeller, can choose.

Each set of instructions covers what kits are suitable and a colour guide. I guess that the later would be my only criticism of these decals. It would be nice to have some specific colour guide either using FS numbers where available or colours from some of the major paint manufacturers.

The decals reviewed cover the following sheets:

  • LD144-2  1/144 Boeing 737-500 PLL LOT Star alliance, covers SP-LKE.

  • LD144-3 1/144 Boeing 737-400 PLL LOT ’80 lat’, SP-LLC.

  • LD144-4 1/144 Douglas C-47A PLL LOT 1950-57, SP- LCA and SP-LCD.

  • LD144-5 1/144 Douglas C-47A PLL LOT 1946-47, SP- LCF and SP-LCB.

  • LD144-6 1/144 Embraer ERJ-170 PLL LOT,  SP-LDA to SP-LDK (minus Charlie and India).

  • LD144-7 1/144 Douglas C-47A, 6 Independent Trancport (sic) Squadron Polish Air Force (LWP), 1945 and Special Government Squadron, Poland 1947.

  • LD72-002 1/72 MIL Mi-8T Wydzial lotniczy Komendy Glownej Policji ZL KGP Warszawa, markings for two different aircraft in two schemes.

  • LD48-001 1/48 ANTONOV AN-2 PLL LOT 1955 SP-LMA.

Reference images are easy to find for the modern airliners and the MIL Mi-8 helicopters, while the C-47s and AN-2 proved to be a little more elusive to uncover any online references. That said I’m sure there is plenty of Polish reference material available, if you know where to look.

Conclusion

These look to be a great aftermarket decal addition specifically aimed at Polish Aviation fans.  The LimaOscar decals reviewed here cover 1945 through to today’s airliners and it’s always nice to see a manufacturer who looks after some of the less well known areas of aviation.

These decals are available from http://www.karaya.pl and http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/LD44001

Highly recommended for Polish Aviation fans.

Thanks to Lima Oscar Decals for the samples.
