Advantages: |
Good quality, and the scale conversion charts that come with the swastikas is a handy idea. |
Disadvantages: |
The cheap cellophane bags are annoying to use. They also fail to protect the decals from falling out in the case of the non-resealable example. |
Conclusions: |
These are good quality decals, although I do not like their cellophane packaging.
The Swastika set is likely to appeal more groups than to just 1/144-scale aircraft modellers. The scale conversion charts that come with it are a helpful idea in this regard.
The Chevrons for Fighters set has a useful variety of symbols and markings. It should prove a worthwhile resource for 1/72-scale Luftwaffe modellers.
I am happy to recommend all both of these sets of decals. |

The two decal sets reviewed here should prove very handy to Luftwaffe modellers. The decals come packaged in cellophane bags. These are hard to cut open because their sealed edges are so close to the contents, and once opened there is the risk that the decals will fall out. Whatever Kopro saves in cost over the more typical zip-lock polythene bags used for decals is not worth it in my view. I find that the cellophane kind annoying to use. The decals have good registration and colour density looks good too.
Swastikas
Some kits of WW2 German aircraft do not include swastikas on their decals sheets. This or a wish to model alternate schemes can mean that the right size and style of swastika is needed from after-market sources. The sheet reviewed here is 1/144-scale; it covers various styles of swastika in scaled sizes commonly used by the Luftwaffe. These are 250, 300, 350, 400, 480, 650 and 800-mm. Of course, some of the 1/144-scale swastikas will be suitable for use with other scales.
With this in mind, Kopro has included two conversion charts with the decals to cover the five most popular aircraft scales. The charts convert the Luftwaffe regulation swastika size to the scale selected, giving a scale size in millimetres and inches. This set will mainly be of use to 1/144, 1/100, 1/87, 1/76 and 1/72-scale modellers of aircraft and vehicles, and possibly to smaller scale ship modellers.
Chevrons for Fighters
This sheet provides a variety of chevron styles as well as the straight and waveform lines often associated with their use. There are also some triangles, circles and dots; again in several styles. This set’s use is mainly restricted to its intended scale of 1/72 because of the nature of the markings.
This is a set worth having to hand if you are inclined to complete Luftwaffe fighter schemes that are not covered by other decal sets.

Take time to check Kopro’s large range of decals; the number of interesting and useful subjects they cover surprised me.
