Windsock Worldwide is an A4 sized magazine that caters specifically for WWI model aeroplane enthusiasts. Inside are 32 pages crammed with a wealth of information on a broad range of topics.

Lance Krieg continues his popular “Modelling Master Class” series and this time he concludes the chapter on airframes and assemblies. There are plenty of revealing “tricks of the trade” that help educate the reader on everything from glues, rigging preparation, wing /undercarriage assembly, and of course the ever perplexing subject of jigs. The skills of numerous modellers are showcased in the article and the informative text is backed up with a multitude of colour images.

Ray Rimell builds another Wingnut Wings kit and this time he takes an in-depth look at the Rumpler C.IV. There are 12 pages devoted to the task and the article offers plenty of hints and tips along the way. Over 60 step-by-step colour images are provided, including 5 contemporary photos of this iconic two-seater. The accompanying narrative is equally as informative and is complimented by a colour/paint comparison chart based on the restoration of Rumpler C.IV 1463/17.

“Rara Avis” looks at some of the more unusual aircraft designs thanks to general arrangement drawings from the late Ian Stair. This issue presents the Morane Saulnier Type ANL and comes with 1:72 and 1:48 scale plans. Period images are also included as well a history on this most unusual French two-seater.

Part 4 in the “Great War Paint” series looks at the Vickers Vimy from the period 1918 - 1920s...

There are 2 pages of colour schemes for the modeller to contemplate as well as a third that provides a selection of photographs.

German aircrew thought highly of the Lewis gun. “Under New Management” looks at a couple of cases where these weapons were installed on an Albatros Scout and a Zeppelin Staaken R.VI “R Plane”.

Speaking of Albatros Scouts, there was a single D.III (OAW) that was captured by Russian forces after the pilot mistakenly landed at the wrong airfield. This article traces the fate of this machine and is complimented by photos and artwork showing it in its original and subsequent livery.

Rounding out the publication are 6 pages of reviews that cover kits, books, decals and accessories.

This is the ideal magazine for those with any interest at all in WWI aviation. It provides articles from authors recognized in their fields and the diversity of material means that there’s something here to please everybody.
