Packaging
Both sets come in vac-formed clear plastic blister packs. The PE components are sandwiched between black cardboard to protect them, while the resin is packed into the blister, backed by 10mm foam to prevent damage. The ejection seat in this review was missing an arm from the left side however, it was still within the packaging so be careful when you open yours, as some tiny pieces may have been dislodged in transit (ear cups for the helmet are a common item that separates)
MiG-29 Exhaust Nozzles
I’ve included in this review images of the Brassin set and the Academy plastic that the Brassin will replace, as you can see the level of detail is superior to what is in the Academy box.
This is a very simply replacement of the kit parts and will greatly improve the look of your MiG-29 for minimal effort. You will however, need to use your own references for painting.
MiG-29 Seat Early
The MiG-29 and Su-27 both use the K-36DM ejection seat, now a quick scan of the internet does not highlight Early vs Late, other than K-36D, K-36DM, and K-36DM 2 variants. It’s hard to tell which version this seat is based upon or to find out what changes have been made to the seat during its service. That said this is a true work of art; the level of detail in the resin is amazing. The advantage the Brassin has is the great detail of the beautifully cast resin, coupled with the colour photo etch harness that really finishes the seat off.
This Brassin comes with a bonus helmet made up of four pieces (helmet shell, PE, and two internal ear cups).
The detail is outstanding, as I have noted in my other review on Eduards ejection seats, it would be nice to see a generic painting guide.
All in All these Brassin sets will add an amazing level of detail to your MiG-29.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to Eduard for the samples.
