Italeri's 1/72 scale AC-130H Spectre is available online from Squadron
This is my latest build of Italeri’s 1/72 scale Lockheed C-130H Hercules in Indonesian Air Force livery.
This particular aircraft is based in Skadron 32, Abdul Rachman Saleh Air Force Base, Malang City, East Java Province. Indonesian Air Force’s short-bodied C-130s are all painted in either a two-tone or three-tone camouflage scheme except for this aircraft (tail code A-1316).
This kit features raised panel lines. The clear parts are in good shape and free of distortion. I left most of the kit parts as they were from the box.
The only two major scratch-building modifications that I made were enhancing the seats of the cockpit’s spartan office space; and correcting the engine nacelle to represent the H model. The engine nacelles that came from the kit however, are made for a C model Herc.
I also made my own stencils and decals. I used Corel Draw to lay out the letters and graphics. Then I printed the decals on a generic decal sheet using my Epson Stylus bubble jet printer. To protect the new prints, I sprayed several thin layers of Testor's GlossCote.
I used an assortment of paints to replicate the C-130H's classic white-and-grey scheme. They include Tamiya and Humbrol enamels, as well as Gunze lacquers. I used Model Master Insignia Yellow to replicate the yellow ID bands. To finish it off, I sprayed a generous amount of Testor's DullCote.
