Messerschmitt
Bf 109 F-4/Trop

Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4/Trop

Academy's 1/48 scale MiG-21MF is available online from Squadron

Description

Here are some photos of my Marseille 109.

Kit: 1/48 Hasegawa
Aftermarket: Ultracast seat and wheels
Decals: Lifelike

The Hasegawa kit is quite accurate and the fit is quite good.

To do an accurate F version the fuel access hatch on the upper left side of the fusalage behind the cockpit must be filled in as this was on the later G version.

Also there are two small fairings on the left side of the fusalage below the forward cockpit that had to be sanded away as these were not on the F version either.

As usual, I attached the upper wing halves to each side of the fusalage before final assembly to ensure an accurate and gap free wing/fillet join.

Model was weathered with oils then given a Testor's Dullcote. Final weathering was done with Mig Pigments.

Photos of this particular aircraft, werk # 10059, can be found in the excellent Schiffer book on the 109 by Prien and Rodeike.
