Here is my 1/48 scale Eduard Bf 110D (W.Nr 3406, 9./ZG 26) serving in Trapany, Sicily during the year 1941.
The Profipack version of this kit is excellent. It includes photo-etched parts, pre-cut masking tape, and decals for 5 versions.
The only aftermarket product that I used was exhaust pipes. Nothing else is needed to deliver a great model. The cockpit is a kit in the kit (very little mistake ; Eduard forget an ammunition drum on his sprues). Attention must be turn to the assembly of the engine to the wing, and to the assembly of the wing to the fuselage. If it’s well prepared everything fits perfectly. The horizontal underside antennas (provided by Eduard in photoetched parts were re build with evergreen rods ans stretched sprue)
As usual when we collect profiles of a plane we could notice some differences ; i based my work on the great book of john Vasco and Fernado Estanislau "The Messerschmitt Bf110 in color profiles 1939-1945".
For this aircraft the rooster emblem adomed to front is for the 9. Staffel, besides the ladybug in a white square is the emblem of the III./ZG26. Those aircrafts were the first emplyed over Africa and managed to serve the longest – up to mid 1943.
Paint is from Gunze Aqueous Hobby color collection following Eduard’s instructions.
