Xtradecal continues to produce excellent decals. They have produced yet another fine quality decal sheet, this time depicting either of two BAE Hawk display aircraft of 208 SQN, 4 FTS based at RAF Valley in 2009. The decals are recommended for the 1/48 scale Airfix kit.
The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and are in perfect register. As usual with Xtradecals, the carrier film is ultra thin and should snuggle down into the surface detail well.
Enough markings are supplied to build one of the two aircraft. The scheme provided for the two aircraft is as follows
- BAE Hawk T.1A XX245 and XX307 of No 208 Sqn, 4FTS based at RAF Valley in the display colour scheme commemorating 90 years of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund in 2009. This aircraft is finished in overall Gloss Black. A large Union Flag is painted on the tail fin and stretches forward to the intake sides just behind the national insignia roundel. A large red, white and blue chevron is painted on the upper side wing tips positioned directly under the national insignia roundel. A large national insignia roundel is pained on the centre of the underside of the fuselage but instead of a round red centre the circle is depicted as a heart. A smaller version of this insignia is painted on the forward fuselage side just below the windscreen.
