Pegasus has released the newest sheet in their range of World War I decals, and a welcome one it is too.
This one focuses on the serial numbers used by aircraft operating in the RFC and RNAS.
Various fonts are supplied and these are in both black and white.
There are also equivalent numbers and letters with a white outline only and these are designed to be laid on top of the solid black items to create the characteristic design of the originals. Not forgotten are the “apostrophes” and these also follow the same format.
Each number/letter is printed separately so there is no chopping of carrier film to mess up the final result.
Practical experience has shown that a mild setting solution can be used although in most cases this will not be necessary.
As usual with the Fantasy Printshop, these decals are thin and exhibit minimal carrier film. All writing was sharp and entirely legible, and the quantity of items on display should keep the modeller well stocked for a very long time.
If you want to customize your aircraft with a subject that isn’t available on commercial decal sheets, this product is the perfect solution.
Editor's Note: Keen eyed visitors will notice a "2" is missing from the decal sheet image at the top of the page. I rudely cut this number from the sheet before forwarding it off to Rob, as it was ideal for a project I was working on at the time - a weight disk on Accurate Armour's 1/48 scale Standard Tilly. The decal performed splendidly, even though it was not the intended subject!
