Set FE488 for 1:48 scale SPAD XIII “Weekend Kit”.
The “Weekend” kits are a great idea.
They allow the modeller to quickly assemble an aircraft with a minimum of fuss. This is due to the omission of “extras” such as photo-etched parts which can be found regularly in Eduard’s other releases. But what if the modeller wants to add more detail to one of these subjects?
No problem…there are accessory packages to cater for this. In this case, FE448 which is devoted to the 1:48 scale Spad XIII.
It contains 29 parts, some of which are coloured. They range from hand-holds for the fuselage to gun sights for the machine guns. For many subjects the mesh covers around the engine are essential and these are included here.
Also welcome are the pre-painted seat belts and instrument faces, the latter complete with bezels. The cockpit is further enhanced with a throttle, map and its associated holder, so the modeller has plenty of items to work with.
Set 32229 for 1:32 scale WWI Lacing
One of the problems encountered by WWI aircraft modellers is how to represent the ever-present stitching.
Sometimes the examples found on kits can be uneven or missing entirely. On other occasions, one may be doing a bit of scratch-building or conversion work. This product allows you to choose between a variety of styles and sizes to suit an assortment of different aircraft.
The product works better in this scale than in the smaller ones as the thickness of the p-e doesn’t sit as far above the surface. Each strip is 13.25 cm long and can be easily applied with your favourite glue or varnish.
Both products are well thought and make good use of the photo-etched process.
Application is easy and for very little effort it’s easy to gain maximum results.
