Aires continues its prolific release schedule with a number of recent
releases in 1/72 scales.
All the sets are perfectly cast in grey resin. The cockpit sets are all made up from a minimum of parts but detail is not compromised, even in this small scale. Tiny details and undercuts are cast as part of the one-piece cockpit, while harness straps, instruments and truly tiny details are provided on the included photo-etched frets. Printed acetate sheets are also supplied with the cockpit sets.
The exhaust sets are equally well detailed.
This month's releases include the following:
Aires 7189 - F-15E Strike Eagle Cockpit
Aires 7193 - Mistel S1 Conversion
The Mistel S1 was the trainer version of the piggy-back / parasite bomber using a Junkers Ju 88 A-4 as the "bomb" and a Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4 as the guiding parasite aircraft.
Aires' conversion provides all the attachments required to connect the two donor kits.
Hasegawa's Ju 88 A-4 is recommended. Fine Molds makes the best 1/72 scale Bf 109 F at this time, so I would suggest that should be the upper half of your Mistel S1 combination.
Aires 7194 - F/A-18D Hornet Exhaust Nozzles - Opened for Hobby Boss
Aires 7195 - J35F/J Draken Cockpit for Hasegawa
Aires 7196 - F-16CG/CJ Cockpit for Academy
Aires 7197 - J35F/S Draken Cockpit for Hasegawa
Aires 7198 - J35 Draken Exhaust Nozzle for Hasegawa
Aires 7199 - F/A-18D Exhaust Nozzles - Closed for Hobby Boss
Aires 7201 - Mistel 2 Conversion for Hasegawa
The Mistel 2 was an operational variant of the Luftwaffe's "parasite" bomber employing the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 or F-8 on top of a Junkers Ju 88 G-1.
This set includes the explosive warhead for the Ju 88 and the attachment gear for the Wurger.
