FirstLook

Alley Cat has released a new conversion and accessory that will be suitable for Trumpeter's 1/48 scale Wellington Mk.I or III kits, and also will be appropriate for Alley Cat's own Wellington Mk.II conversion.

AC 48004C - Wellington Mk.I,II,III 4,000lb Bomb & Bomb Bay

This is an extremely simple but effective conversion comprising the modified bomb bay door, the new cradle for the big cylindrical 4,000lb "Cookie" bomb, and the blockbuster bomb itself.

The opening in the bomb bay doors is flashed over, but this should be quite easy to remove with a sharp hobby knife. The bomb bay door is depicted closed with the bomb partially protruding out the bottom of the aircraft.

Installation will be a breeze. There is no surgery at all required to the Trumpeter kit. The resin parts simply replace their kit counterparts.

AC 48005C - Wellington Mk.I,II,III 4,000lb Bomb (x 2)

Two Cookie bombs also available as a separate accessory set for dioramas or for fitting to a different aircraft type. These 4,000lb bombs could also be carried by the Mosquito, Halifax and Lancaster.

Conclusion

Alley Cat's 1/48 scale Bomb Bay set is a simple but effective conversions and accessories for the Trumpeter Wellington, while the bombs have versatile possibilities for a range of RAF aircraft and scene.

After cleanup, assembly won't present any challenges either!
