Here is my Hasegawa P-40N Warhawk, kit number JT88, released in 2005. The model contains 108 pieces, and it is moulded in grey coloured styrene.
The Model
The model has a few modifications. I preferred to show the plane with its flaps in the extended position. I therefore cut them and rebuilt them from scratch. I have replaced the wheels for True Details resin items, and for the cockpit I have used the Eduard photo etched for the seat.
I have added some other scratchbuilt extras like the ammunition compartment of the wing, the radio equipment and oxygen cylinder. The cockpit has been improved with strips of copper and plastic plate. The rest of the plane is from the box.
Painting and Markings
The cockpit has been painted with Tamiya colours and an airbrush. For the minor details I have used Vallejo colours painted by brush.
The markings and camouflage represent the 502nd Fighter Squadron.
I have painted the entire plane with Tamiya colours. To clarify and to blend the fuselage panels and wing I used the base colours mixed with heavily diluted black and brown.
The model has been varnished with Titan Mate Opal and the panels have been remarked with Vallejo black and brown and applicator with a 00 brush.
The nose art "parrot head”, the fuselage and wings stars are painted with masks.
The only decals used in this model are the serial number and number of individual aircraft.
The stencils are transferable from the Korean brand Hobbydecal.
