Zotz Decals continues with its line of fine quality decal sheets with this one depicting schemes for the CH-46D/E Sea Knight. This sheet contains markings for four aircraft of the US Navy and Marines. One particularly striking scheme is a navy aircraft with flames painted reaching back from the nose.
The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register. As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Zotz decals that I have used in the past is that the decals have to be handled carefully and snuggle down into the surface detail well. I always use decal setting solution but this is not necessary. The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.
A complete set of data decals are provided as well as full national markings are provided along with detailed instructions for placement.
The instruction sheet is in full colour and contains 12 photographs of the actual aircraft depicted.
The markings for the four aircraft are as follows;
-
CH-46D of the US Navy HC-11 “Gunbearers” Sno 153319 finished in FS36320 and FS35237. This aircraft has the very striking scheme of flames painted reaching back from the nose and cockpit area.
-
CH-46E of the US Marines HMM-263 “Thunderchickens” Sno 156458 finished in FS36375 and FS35237. The scheme for this aircraft is depicted while operating in Iraq in mid 2004.
-
CH-46D of the US Navy HC-3 “Pack Rats” Det-104 Sno 154000 “Mars” finished in overall FS16081.
-
