MAW Decals continues with their line of fine quality decal sheets this time producing markings for the CH-53D and CH-53E Heavy Haulers.
The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register. The carrier film is ultra thin which means the decals will have to be handled carefully and should snuggle down into the surface detail well. The carrier film should then almost totally disappear under a coat of clear.
The set contains the markings for both types of aircraft on two sheets including the walkway markings for the CH-53D.
A third sheet is included which is MAW-009 for the CH-53H Sea Stallion Walkways and this single sheet is also available separately from MAW Decals.
Also included is a decal (thank goodness), for the complex digital paint scheme that is applied to the horizontal and the vertical tail unit of the CH-53E Sea Stallion.
The stencil data decals for the aircraft need to be taken from the kit decal sheet. Care will have to be taken to ensure that the main paintwork is closely matched in colour to the decal colours.
Markings are included for two aircraft as follows:
The guys at MAW Decals have done a superb job with the decal artwork and the instruction sheet artwork.
This sheet will obviously enhance the available kits in 1/48 scale. My only criticism of this product is that no colour scheme paint numbers are provided on the colour scheme sheets. Obviously this detail must be contained on the kit instruction sheet.
Highly Recommended
