Most Japanese aircraft enthusiasts would have more than one Hayabusa in their collection to build.
The aircraft had graceful lines, was produced in great numbers and carried an interesting array of colourful markings. The Ki-43 II was produced in the greatest numbers and this is the subject of this decal sheet.
Empire City Decals supply markings for an impressive 14 examples.
The printing is done by AviPrint in the Czech Republic so a high standard of reproduction is assured. The carrier film is commendably thin and each image is sharply printed and in perfect register.
National markings consist of a single set for each country though another source is needed if you wish to add stencil data.
Options are:
-
Indonesian Peoples Security Force, Jakarta, 1946
-
Royal Thai Air Force, Bangkok, 1944
-
63rd Hiko-Sentai, 3rd Chutai, New Guinea, 1943
-
19th Rensei-Hikotai, Tanshan AB, China, 1945
-
25th Hiko-Sentai, 1st Chutai, Hankow AB, China, 1944
-
26th Rensai-Sentai, Malang AB, Java Island, 1945
-
55th Hiko-Sentai, Komaki AB, Nagoya, 1944
-
47th Hiko-Sentai, 1st Chutai, Narimasu AB, Tokyo, 1944
-
33rd Hiko-Sentai, 1st Chutai, Gernbang AB, Sumatra, 1944
-
24th Hiko-Sentai, 2nd Chutai, New Ireland, 1944
-
19th Hiko-Dan HQ Flying Staff, Chofu AB, Tokyo, 1943
-
26th Hiko-Sentai, 1st Chutai, Palemang AB, Sumatra, 1943
-
9th Rensei-Hikotai, Waitoba AB, Sumatra, 1944
-
8th Kyoiku-Hikotai, Heito AB, Formasa, 1944
Only the first two examples are shown with full colour profiles.
The instructions show the rest with tailing markings only. Thus the modeller will need extra reference material to replicate the exact camouflage scheme for options 3 to 14.
Despite this, the sheet is a perfect excuse to dust off your stash of “Falcons”. The wide variety of marking will allow you to add yet another colourful bird to the nest.
