This is an excellent decal sheet produced by Dutch Profile depicting the TBM Avenger in the Royal Netherlands Naval Air Service.

The decals are available in either 1/72 scale (DDPS7072) or 1/48 scale (DDPS7048). 

 

 

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register.  As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Dutch Profile decals that I have used in the past is that the decals have to be handled carefully and snuggle down into the surface detail well.  I always use decal setting solution but this is might not be necessary for everyone.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

All of the data decals are provided so you do not need to use any kit decals.

This sheet is complimented by the excellent publication on the TBM Avenger by Dutch Decals.

Decals are provided for ten aircraft as follows:

  1. TBM-3W2 Avenger SNo P-119 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in overall Gloss Sea Blue AN 623.

  2. TBM-3E2 Avenger SNo U-32 of 1 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in overall Gloss Sea Blue AN 623.

  3. TBM-3E2 Avenger SNo 070 of 1 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in overall Gloss Sea Blue AN 623.

  4. TBM-3S2 Avenger SNo A-12 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in Gloss Extra Dark Sea Gray upper surfaces and Gloss Sky under surfaces.

  5. TBM-3S2 Avenger SNo A-14 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in Gloss Extra Dark Sea Gray upper surfaces and Gloss Sky under surfaces.

  6. TBM-3W2 Avenger SNo P-111 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in Gloss Extra Dark Sea Gray upper surfaces and Gloss Sky under surfaces.

  7. TBM-3W2 Avenger SNo P-112 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in Gloss Extra Dark Sea Gray upper surfaces and Gloss Sky under surfaces.

  8. TBM-3S2 Avenger SNo 038 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in Gloss Extra Dark Sea Gray upper surfaces and Gloss Sky under surfaces.

  9. TBM-3W2 Avenger SNo 056 of 2 Sqn Royal Netherlands Navy.  This aircraft is finished in Gloss Extra Dark Sea Gray upper surfaces and Gloss Sky under surfaces.
