This is my 1/48 scale Accurate Miniatures TBM Avenger diorama.

The aircraft kit was modified with the reconstituted DangerBoy resin wingfold set now available from Lone Star Models. Superscale decals were used, and Eduard prepainted seatbelts and harnesses were added. The moto tug is from the Tamiya Corsair kit and the bomb trolleys are from Accurate Miniatures kits, collected from generous Hyperscalers. The eleven figures are a collection from various Tamiya, Monogram, Revell, Hasegawa and Eduard kits and sets, modified and cut to fit the positions I needed for them.

The base is thin plywood, grooved at intervals for the tie-downs.

Black painted Evergreen U-channel strips were set into the grooves and covered with Tom’s brass tie-down strips. The area between the tie-downs was thinly scribed to simulate the individual wood planks.

The base and models were painted with Model Master enamels.

This Avenger diorama was created as a companion piece for an earlier 1/700 CVL Independence diorama, showing the large and small scale of carrier operations.
