Description

Australian Aero illustrator Juanita Franzi has sent these profiles of two Curtiss Flying Boats for HyperScale's Gallery:

Curtiss Flying Boats, Birth of the USN

Curtiss F-Boat (late model) Bureau No. A2305 was assigned to one of the Maimi squadrons and the winged emblem is thought to have been one of squadron's insignia, but this has not been confirmed.

Early Curtiss Boat AB-5 was delivered to the US Navy in 1913. Typical for early Curtiss Boats, it had varnished timber hull and natural doped flying surfaces. It was renumbered C-5 and remained in service until February 1917.
