Description

 

Here is Tamiya's 1/48 scale F4U-1A Corsair finished as a Corsair Mk.II. The model is basically assembled out of the box, with several enhancements:

  • Ignition leads fitted to radial engine from wire.

  • Hydraulic lines on undercarriage oleos from fine solder.

  • Seat belts fitted (from Eduard)

  • Forward aerial post deleted & small whip aerial fitted to under fuselage. (Ref: F4U Corsair, A.J. Press, Pg. 134).

  • Mainplanes shortened by scale 8” each side & new navigation lights fitted. (A.J.Press etc)

 

 

Alterations to kit colour scheme as follows:

  • British Pacific Fleet roundels by Techmod (Aircraft #1)

  • Extra Dark Sea Grey & Dark Slate Grey matched to correct FS numbers in Techmod sheet details (NOT print colours!)

  • Walkway markings on mainplanes not shown (see ref.4 above & Model Aircraft Monthly, Vol 4, Iss 8, P. 27)
