CH-53E Super Stallion

Academy's 1/48 CH-53E Super Stallion is available online from Squadron.com

Here is Academy's Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion in 1/48 scale.

I used the Eduard Big Ed Set for CH-53E to add extra detail to the basic kit

I also scratch built the two electronic bays in the front, and added some details to the main rotor and some other parts.

The decals are out of the box and are satisfactory. I decided to build the version from HMH-464 used during 1990.

The colours are mostly enamels from Model Master and Revell. Hand painted parts are made with acrylics from Andrea and Vallejo.

For the weathering I used Tamiya weathering master sets and chalk

The carrier deck section is made from dark grey colour mixed with glue and very fine sand from the lybian desert. After drying it was drybrushed with lighter aclylic colours.

Academy’s 1/48 scale CH-53E was a lot of work and it took a lot of time finish, but I am  very pleased with the result.
