Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 is available online from Squadron.com
Here is Hasegawa’s venerable Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 in 1/48 scale with the Aires super detail set.
Aires' resin castings are superb but I would recommend a thorough wash in detergent before starting as I managed to lift the paint when removing the Montex masks. That wasn’t annoying enough!
The resin bits fitted really well and some of the cowlings were to scale thickness, in other words very thin but quite robust. They also include an accurate spinner which is a nice touch as the Hasegawa offering is far too bulbous.
The model was painted using Gunze acrylics and I did my usual weathering technique, that is tinting and weathering the paint as I go along.
I would highly recommend this as a first super detail project. The Aires bits fit with the minimum of fuss and the detail is stunning.
