Tamiya's 1/48 scale Bf 109 E-3 is available online from Squadron.com
This is the ancient Hasegawa SR-71 with raised panel lines. I only made a few corrections, so it is built almost straight from the box. As it is not the most accurate kit, I didn't waste time on detail work.
This time I focused on "painting" because the Habu (I prefer this nickname) has a unique burnt colour. I used several "black" colours for the painting. The base colour was "Mignight Blue" which made by C2 Gloss Black:C14 Navy Blue=3:1.
Then I added Red Brown/Navy Blue/White into the base colour.
I used 6 colours in all.
The Hasegawa original decal was too thick and with a yellowish white area, but they performed quite well with the Gunze Mark Softer.
I used Tamiya enamel colours for washing - German grey:Brown:White=2:2:6, and fianlly a matt coat.
The Egg Plane Series SR-71 is also made by Hasegawa. I received it as a present from my friend.
The decal was printed in 1988, almost 20 years ago!
It was badly yellowed, but I had no choice. Everything else was okay though.
I added some writting during modeling. This word inside cockpit means "Fast",while the words on the lower surface means "Me the Greatest Only One" with "Camera" in the middle.
Hope you like it!
