In late 2001, Mike Grant produced two ALPS printed decal sheets for
Fieseler Storch kits in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales.
Now, Mike has produced a new Storch sheet in 1/48 scale using screen
printing technology. This means that the each marking is separate on the
sheet, and may be applied in the same manner as kit decals with no
further preparation required. The markings will be less susceptible to
scratching and handling damage than ALPS decals too.
Best of all though, the timing is perfect for Tamiya's brand new and
beautiful 1/48 scale Fi 156 C Storch kit.
This new sheet features four highlights from the earlier two:
Mike Grant's sheet number 48008 includes the following subjects:
-
A Bulgarian Storch in 71 Green upper surfaces
and 76 Light Blue lower surfaces with a yellow cowl and rudder.
-
A captured Storch in desert markings, with
roughly painted British roundels and a camouflage scheme comprising a
squiggle of RLM 76 Light Blue over RLM 79 Sand.
-
A yellow and red Swiss aircraft. Alternate
markings are offered with a white nose and wing stripes.
-
A Storch acting as a Squadron hack for a
Night Fighter unit, as suggested by the famous Englandblitz emblem
on the cowl.
The decals are thin, crisply printed and in perfect register. Instructions are supplied on a single sheet, and placement diagrams are in
full colour.
The Swiss option is also available separately as a 1/32 scale decal
sheet from Mike Grant Decals.
These decals will be an ideal way to customise your Tamiya 1/48 scale
Storch, but will be equally appropriate for any old ESCI kit lurking out
there.
Recommended.
