Model Alliance has added the twelfth decal sheet to its current Canberra
offerings. Appropriately, this final Model Alliance Canberra decal set contains
the markings for the special retirement scheme of Canberra PR.9 XH134. This
"winged bomb" must qualify as one of the most striking tail markings ever
carried by a Canberra.
Instructions include three views of the aircraft. Quality of the artwork and
the colour callouts is very good. A handy list of Canberra interior detail
colours and reference photos is also included.
The decals themselves are beautifully printed and in perfect register. These
are supplied on two sheets - one with the big tail markings, roundels, fin
flashes and serial numbers, and the second with the various squadron codes.
These are provided with separately printed white backgrounds to ensure perfect
alignment.
Stencils will have to be sourced from the kit or from the Model Alliance
generic Canberra decal sheet.
1/48 scale PR.9 Canberras are due from both Airfix and Classic Airframes
later this year. Considering the limited edition nature of this decal release,
you might want to snap them up while they are still available. They will
undoubtedly be a hot item when the kits hit the market.
Hannants has also announced a PR.9 Canberra kit in the 1/72 scale Xtrakits
range to be released in late 2007.
This is another impressively presented and interesting release of an
attractive subject from Model Alliance.
Highly Recommended.
