Cutting Edge has introduced another fine quality decal sheet depicting schemes for F100D Super Sabres nicknamed the Hun.  This is the fourth sheet in the limited edition series.

The decals are designed for the Trumpeter 1/32 scale kit.  The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register.  As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Cutting Edge decals that I have used in the past is that the decals have to be handled carefully and snuggle down into the surface detail well.  I always use decal setting solution but this is not necessary.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

Very few data decals are provided so you may need to refer to the kit decal sheets for these but full national markings are provided for two aircraft as follows:

  • F-100D-26-NA 55-3064 of the 27th TFW 416 TFS based at Bien Hoa RVN in July 1966.  This aircraft was finished in overall natural metal with a black outlined skull in a flying helmet on a light blue disc with double blue chevrons on the tail.

  • F-100D-51-NA 55-3604 of the 31st TFW 309 TFS based at Tuy Hoa AB RVN in Spring 1970.  This aircraft was finished in the South East Asia Scheme of FS 30219 Tan, FS42102 Green and FS34079 Green upper surfaces with FS36622 Grey under surfaces.

  • F-100D-21-NA 55-3580 of the 31st TFW 308 TFS based at Tuy Hoa AB RVN in late 1969.  This aircraft was finished in the South East Asia Scheme of FS 30219 Tan, FS42102 Green and FS34079 Green upper surfaces with FS36622 Grey under surfaces.  The aircraft has the logo Mary Jane painted on the nose.
