This sheet
is the first of two new ones from Afterburner Decals that provide the myriad
stencil data that are a feature of modern military aircraft.
This sheet,
48-016 covers the F-16C/CJ/CG Fighting Falcon whilst 48-017 provides stencils
and data for the Boeing F/A-18E and –F Super Hornet.
The majority
of items are printed in either grey or black with the only colour being the red
of the fuel caps for the drop tanks and the ACES II logos for the ejection
seat(s).
To list
every item would take me many hours of typing as well as tying up more bandwidth
than is really necessary so I will give you a summary of what is provided.
You get
national insignia, a series of numerals to make up individual aircraft serial
numbers – four sets of 0 to 9, as well as their prefixes – AF 88 through AF 03
(a single pair of each), ejection seat warning triangles, air to air refuelling
markings, rescue arrows, no-step, no-push and walkway stencils, and whole lot
more!

A nice touch
is two sets of canopy framing decals (a black set and a grey set). A pair of
decals to simulate the wrap-around carbon fibre ring at the end of the fuselage
as well as also feature - You beauty! No masking! A further innovation is the
black “shadow” decals to apply to the exhaust nozzle to give an impression of
depth.
The decals
have been printed by Superscale and as such are very thin and have an absolute
minimum of film surrounding each design.
The
placement guide is printed on glossy A-4 sized paper and shows large upper and
lower surfaces plan views as well as left and right hand side profiles.
Thankfully, each design is printed large on the placement guide with an arrow
pointing to where it should be applied so as you get it right!
The
placement guide and the decal sheet come packed in a clear plastic zip-loc bag.
These decals
are designed for the new Tamiya kit.
A nice one
from Afterburner Decals. It is the small details that these two new sheets
provide that transform your latest creation from a mere model to a replica of
the real thing.
Recommended.
