Upgrades for Trumpeter Kit

Trumpeter's new 1/48 scale F9F-2 Panther kit is an attractive kit with a myriad of options.

Pavla has turned its attention to this kit with three new releases. All are moulded in Pavla's customary pale yellow resin, and the parts are perfectly cast.

Pavla U48-22 - F9F-2 Nose Gear Well and Fuselage Speed Brakes

This set includes the nose gear well and speed brake bay cast as a single part, plus the perforated speed brakes and some separately cast smaller details. There is some remarkably delicate detail cast onto the speed brake well.

The casting block is fairly small on the large main casting. It should not present a big challenge to any modeller who has previously worked with resin. Not surprisingly, there is some flash to remove from the small holes in the speed brakes.

Pavla U48-23 - F9F-2 Rudder and Elevators. Jetpipes

This set includes a replacement set of elevators, horizontal tail, rudder and jet pipe. The rudder is split into two separate sections. A nice touch is the deflected trim tabs on the elevators, ailerons and rudder.

Pavla U48-24 - F9F-2 Fuselage Flaps

This is a simple upgrade with the fuselage flap bay and the flaps themselves cast as one piece each. Detail is crisp and deep.

Pavla's new suite of upgrades and accessories will represent a genuine improvement to Trumpeter's kit.
